Move and Copy Files Between Cloud Providers, Directly from Nubbo

Moving a folder from one bucket to another, or from an AWS account to a DigitalOcean Space, used to mean the same tedious dance: download everything to your disk, then upload it all again to the destination. Today we’re shipping cross-provider transfer: pick files or folders, choose a destination on any of your connected providers, and Nubbo moves or copies them for you.

How it works

Nubbo picks the fastest path automatically, depending on where the source and the destination live.

  • Same account, different bucket: the copy runs server-side. Your own provider copies the object from one bucket to another (S3 to S3) without the data ever leaving its infrastructure. Nubbo just issues the command.
  • Different accounts or different clouds: the transfer relays through your browser. Nubbo signs the URLs, your browser reads from the source provider and writes to the destination, and the file content never passes through Nubbo’s servers.

In both cases Nubbo never stores the content of your files. It only tracks the metadata (names, paths, sizes) it needs to show you the result.

Whole folders, thousands of files

You’re not limited to single files. Select an entire folder, including nested subfolders, and Nubbo expands it and transfers every item, preserving the structure on the destination. Whether it’s a handful of files or thousands, the transfer runs with controlled concurrency so it stays fast without overwhelming your provider.

Pause and resume

Large files are transferred with multipart uploads, and you can pause and resume them. When you resume, the transfer continues from the last completed part instead of starting over, so a multi-gigabyte move never throws away progress because of an interruption.

Move or copy

You decide what happens to the original:

  • Copy keeps the source untouched and writes a duplicate at the destination.
  • Move writes to the destination and then cleans up the source once everything is in place.

Details that matter

  • Zero storage on Nubbo’s side. Same-account transfers happen inside your provider, cross-cloud transfers relay through your browser. Either way, Nubbo never reads, copies or stores your file content.
  • Across any of your providers. AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean Spaces, Wasabi, Backblaze B2 and any S3-compatible or self-hosted server. Connect as many accounts as you need and move files between any of them.
  • Up to your provider’s limits. There’s no size cap imposed by Nubbo beyond your provider’s own (up to 5 TB per object on most of them).
